Waid Fambrough: City student at AU dies after fight
Roommate is charged with manslaughter after choking death
AUBURN - An early morning fight today between two Auburn University roommates from Huntsville ended with one dead and the other charged with manslaughter, according to a police report.
James Bruce III, a 20-year-old Auburn student, is charged with choking to death Waid Fambrough, also 20, at a trailer they shared at a trailer park on Bragg Avenue, Auburn police said today.
Police charged Bruce with manslaughter, said Drucilla Cooper, spokeswoman for the Auburn Police. Investigators are still looking into the circumstances of the incident, she said.
After police found Fambrough unconscious about 2:45 a.m. at the trailer, they rushed him to a local hospital where he died, police said.
Fambrough, whose Huntsville home address was listed as 1236 Willowbrook Drive, Apt. 1, was listed as a freshman with an undeclared major at the university's school of sciences and mathematics.
Bruce, a junior at Auburn's school of business, has listed a Huntsville address of 14024 Astalot Drive.
Both young men graduated from Grissom High School in 1998 and were members of the ROTC unit.
Bruce was a member of the German Club. Fambrough was in the marching band and concert band and had participated in science olympiad.
