On March 5, 1941 John Olson, 52 killed Ole B Erickson, 65, with a hammer. They had been living together since Erickson's wife died a year or so earlier. A week later, Olson dismembered Erickson's body with a knife and saw. He tied the head, torso and limbs into three gunny sacks. He put them in his car, and set out to get rid of them, stopping to get drinks. He apparently got too drunk to carry out his plan, and his car stalled. He then tried to sell the car for $10. The bags were seen in his car, and Sid Jensen, the coroner at the time, was one of the people called to investigate. Olson was known at the time to be a "mild and harmless" man who probably was "crazed by drink." Published : March 29, 1941 Banner Journal
