(second part of the story at Terry Polster)

      JUDITH POLSTER and TERRY POLSTER

Falls Woman, Son, 2, Killed in Iowa Crash
Monticello, Iowa – A weekend trip to visit a friend ended in tragedy for a Sheboygan Falls family near noon Saturday when their car was sideswiped, went out of control and slammed head on into another auto.
Victims of the crash were:Mrs. Judith Polster, 24, of 531 Madison St., Sheboygan Falls. Terry Lee Polster, 2, her son.
      Three Others Hurt
Mrs. Polster's husband, Clarence, 32, and two other children, are listed in fair condition at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
Jones County authorities said the Polsters' 1967 Rebel station wagon and a 1963 Rambler driven by Frank Ellwood, 78, of R. 3, Monticello, sideswiped on a Highway 151 curve about a half mile northeast of here at 11:50 a.m.
The impact tore the left front fender and door off the Polster auto.
The Ellwood car careened off the left side of the road through a ditch and into a field, but the Polster car continued down the highway some 250 feet and collided head on with an oncoming car.
Officers reported that the other car, driven by Melvin Schmitt, 49, of Epworth, Iowa, was spun around in the opposite direction, deputies said, while the Polster car came to a stop in the ditch on the left side of the highway.
      All three cars were demolished.
Other Driver Critical Mr. Polster sustained a fractured right leg, lacerations above an eye and on a knee and other bruises and abrasions.
His daughter has a fractured hand and elbow and facial injuries, and his son, lacerations and contusions about the face and arms.
Schmitt, who was alone in his car, is in critical condition with a skull fracture and two broken legs at the University Hospital in Iowa City. Ellwood and two passengers in his car were not seriously injured. They were treated and released at the Monticello Hospital.
Mr. Polster, his two children, and Schmitt were transferred to St. Luke's Hospital. Schmitt was later taken to the intensive care unit at the hospital at Iowa City.
Authorities said the accident is still under investigation.
Mr. Polster, an employee of Badger Structures, Inc. of R. 2, Sheboygan Falls, was en route with his family to Center Junction, Iowa to visit a business acquaintance.
The acquaintance was identified as James Lux, a representative of the Cuckler Co. here, manufacturers of steel buildings. His home is only 10 miles from the accident scene.
