A very serious tragedy occured on Ten Mile creek between Poplar Bluff and Grandin in Butler county, AT 14th April 1905, In which three men lost their lives, H.S. Adams, William Heck and Riley Henson.
L.M. Henson, circuit clerk of Butler County, was at the scene of the shooting and admits, H.S. Adams and William Heck to killed.
After hls brother had been killed.
Trouble came up between Henson and Adams over a strip of ground and young Henson summoned his brother the circuit clerk from Poplar Bluff to help him defend, as he thought, his rights on that particular morning.
L. M. Henson went to his young brother´s clearing that morning well armed and sit down by a tree while he worked.
Soon Adams and Heck drove up in a wagon, young Henson and Adams begun quarrelling and young Henson drew a pistol and shot at Adams but missed him, then Adams shot and killed young Henson.
This brought L.M. Henson from behind the tree with a double barrel shot gun, and he fired at Adams who was still standing in the wagon but missed, aiming wild in the excitement.
