Dave Toomey killed by Officer Omer Yocum held by coronor´s Jury.
Saturday Night Tragedy at Bevier - Shooting on Main Street.

Bevier, Mo., 10 April 1916 Dave Toomey, age 45 was shot and killed about 8:30 Saturday night by Omer Yocum, night marshal.
As gathered at the inquest conducted by Coroner Gronoway, assisted by T. A. Rowland Sunday afternoon, it appears that officer Yocum, had run across Toomey, who was creating some sort of disturbance and ordered him to go home.
The parties separated but later on met in front of Herrin's restaurant.
It was stated that at that meeting, after some words passed, Toomey rushed at Yocum and that Yocum knocked him away.
When the parties me [sic] Yocum received a cut on the left cheek, a gash about three inches long narrowly missing an important artery.
Yocum was also cut near the wrist sometime during the fray.
Yocum pulled his revolver and shot four times.
Two of the bullets took effect in the upper part of Toomey's chest, and another struck lower down Toomey ran into Herrin's restaurant and told them to call a doctor.
Then he fell dead.
When searched a closed knife was found in Toomey's pocket.
The inquest resulted in Yocum being held for investigation.
Yocum has a reputation of being a quiet, hard working man.
Toomey leaves a wife and six children.
